Don't just stop by looking at art!

Many artists weave music and sound into their practice, and so can you and yours!

In this cARTie @ home blog activity, we encourage you to take inspiration from student-artist, Jenna, who listened to the song Sunny by Boney while creating her piece, Sunny, which is currently on view aboard the bus.

From our experience on the bus, it becomes a totally different experience to look AND LISTEN at Jenna's piece. Do you want to give it a go?

Sunny by student-artist, Jenna (2026; collage)

Here's how:

  1. Pull up the song Sunny by Boney and then bring your attention to Jenna's piece (above).
  2. Start to let your eyes wander around her piece, Sunny. What do you hear? What do you see?
  3. Now pull up your favorite song. Get a piece of blank paper and some miscellaneous art materials ready.
  4. Get started coordinating your art-making with the music. Make faster movements as the beat picks up and slower, longer ones as the melody sings. What other marks can you make in tandem with the music?

We can't wait to hear about your experiences! If you post on social media, tag us @CTcARTie!
