To bridge inequities in art and museum education across Connecticut, we envisioned a new learning model using our background in early childhood education.
Tish, an experienced early childhood educator, wanted to do something about the educational inequities she witnessed while volunteering in Bridgeport Public Schools. Clare, a museum aficionado and passionate academic, knew we could do more for students in our state.
In 2018, while volunteering together at a play-based children’s museum, we found ourselves asking: “What if promising practices in art, museum, and early childhood education came together inside a vehicle that traveled directly to children, eliminating barriers to entry for the wonders inside museums?"
By 2019, while studying at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Clare made cARTie a reality with an expert team, endless passion, and key founding sponsors.
Today, cARTie's impact wows us. Everyday we see and feel the difference that powerful, early art and museum experiences have on students' lives. We hope you will join us and invite thousands of more students through our museum doors.
With ART and soul,
